Ready for Retirement, Ready to Downsize
With so many baby boomers set to retire in Canada, and more specifically Toronto over the next few years, there has been a huge influx in the number of collective senior housing projects in development. While large retirement communities with great amenities and private care options are continuously popping up, they do not necessarily meet the needs of a large percentage of Canada’s aging population.
As the number of seniors living active and independent lifestyles rises in Canada, so does the need for variety in the housing options available for these seniors.
Between the ages of 50 and 70 years old, many retirees start to look at their living situation with thoughts of the upcoming years, what their needs will be, and what options will be available to them when it finally comes time to downsize. For some it may be that the stairs in their home are becoming more difficult to climb, or the property upkeep is becoming hard to maintain, while for others it just makes sense to downsize and begin enjoying life in a different way than they have in the past.
When faced with the decision of selling the family home, many seniors do not know where to start. If you have owned your home for decades and have raised a family there, this decision can also be an emotional one.
What is your home worth all these years later? How will it be sold? Will you purchase a condo, move into a retirement community, live with family members, or rent? How will you pack up a lifetime worth of possessions and physically move to a new location?
While these questions may seem daunting, they don’t need to be. As an experienced, patient, and compassionate real estate salesperson, I have the answers to these questions and more. I can help to minimize the fears and frustration that trouble so many retirees throughout the process of selling their home, and ensure a pleasant and positive experience.
If you, your parents, grandparents or anyone else you know is thinking of downsizing and is curious about their options, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I can also provide valuable advice and information about the housing market in Florida for anybody looking for a property to jet away to in the colder months.
I welcome your call at any time.
